Biography
Prior to founding her firm in 2009, Mrs. Jackson served Mecklenburg County, North Carolina as one of four General Managers reporting to the County Manager. She had primary responsibility for the Community Health and Safety focus area. She returned to Mecklenburg County in February 2005, after having begun her local government career there as a graduate intern.
Mrs. Jackson was Albany, GA’s City Manager for almost nine years, and was the Assistant City Manager for three years, having started there in January 1993. Mrs. Jackson also worked in Prince George’s County, MD as a Management Intern, Assistant to the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Human Services, and as Program Manager of the Infants and Toddlers Program, which provided comprehensive services to children with developmental disabilities. In addition, she worked as Assistant Director of the Central Richmond Association in Richmond, VA from June 1985 through April of 1987, where she assisted in marketing and promoting the downtown area.
Over the years, she has been active in various civic and professional organizations, to include the United Way organizations in Albany and the Central Carolinas, the International and Georgia City-County Manager’s Associations, Women's National Book Association, Charlotte Chapter, and the National Forum for Black Public Administrators. She is a life member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, and a former Rotarian. She currently serves as board member for the Institute for Social Capital, Partners for Out of School Time, Community Health Services, and is a part of the Steering Committee of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Women’s Summit. Additionally, she is an active member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church.
A native of Augusta, GA, Mrs. Jackson holds an undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary in Virginia, and a graduate degree in Public Policy from Duke University. She is the only child of Mrs. Sophia Allen and the late Calloway Allen, the wife of Joe Jackson, and the mother of Miles and Caroline Jackson.
